Dancewear shop, Dancia International, has won a prestigious Pride of Reading award.
Proprietors Jude and Richard Chapman received the Business In Action award for a company with less than 50 employees.
Known locally as "the big pink shop", the store in Caversham only opened its doors in January of this year. Supplying dance uniforms for schools in Reading, Henley and beyond, as well as shoes for all styles of dance, the shop has already made a big impact on the community.
Ann Piper of Reading Area Charities Together (RACT) nominated Mr and Mrs Chapman after their Reading Dance Showcase event raised over £2,500 for RACT. The event brought together over 30 local dance schools and showcased styles of dance ranging from tap to tango and ballroom to Bollywood.
The award was presented by Chris Tarrant at a special ceremony held at The Crowne Plaza in Caversham. After winning the award, Jude Chapman said: "We are overwhelmed and immensely proud. It has been an incredible year for us".
Dancia International plans to run The Reading Dance Showcase again in June next year.
